I truly cannot believe that this pear smoothie is even real! It’s rich like a chocolate shake, but the main ingredients are all pretty wholesome. It’s one of the more luscious vegan smoothie recipes I’ve ever worked on. Of course I already knew that the frozen pear base would yield creamy results given how much I love it in this vanilla chip smoothie. If you need to shake up your breakfast ideas throughout the week, I can’t recommend this recipe enough.

I love to sneak chocolate into my mornings whenever possible. That’s where the journey of this smoothie began. I knew that a smoothie with pears would be transcendent with a chocolaty flavor profile along with a little cinnamon and vanilla to lift it all up. I tried a version of this with frozen banana and pear, but found the banana to be too dominant. No banana here and 100% pears all the way!
I prefer ripe Bartlett pears in a smoothie. The mellow sweetness with a hint of acidity is just right. I chop them up (removing the core) and spread the pieces out on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Pop that into the freezer until the fruit is solid and then transfer the pieces to a sealed bag or container.
Some chocolate protein powder, plain yogurt, almond butter, and soy milk make this blend much more satiating for the morning hours. Do not skip the salt! I know it sounds weird, but it just elevates everything else going on here.
Hope you love this one! It’s my new fave. In my testing adventures, I found that the combo is also excellent with a little espresso shot blended in.

Creamy Chocolate Pear Smoothie with Cinnamon (Vegan)
This tastes like a rich chocolate shake to me! Frozen chunks of ripe pear make this chocolate pear smoothie so incredibly lush and creamy. Cinnamon offers a warm spice lift in every sip!

Servings 1
Ingredients
- ¾ cup unsweetened soy milk
- ¼ cup unsweetened vegan yogurt
- 1 pitted Medjool date
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
- 2 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon almond butter
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup diced frozen Bartlett pear (about 1 large pear)
- handful ice, optional
Notes
- The volume of my protein powder scoop is about 3 tablespoons.
- You can do some supercharged add-ins with this too. Chia, hemp, and flax seeds are all great. Plus a little scoop of rolled oats for extra satiation!
- If you can find it, unsweetened vanilla soy milk is extra good here.
- Simpla or Yoggu are my favorite vegan yogurts.
Instructions
-
In an upright blender, combine the soy milk, yogurt, date, chocolate protein powder, cocoa powder, cinnamon, almond butter, vanilla, salt, pear, and ice (if using). Blend on high until completely smooth and creamy, about 1 full minute. Enjoy immediately!
